Résumé

The aim of this working group was for us to be helped in presenting new knwoledge to our students by using scientific debates. We worked on various fields, including « hard science », humanities and social sciences, and this helped us to underline many difficulties as regards designing and putting debates into practice. We tried to identify and to solve these problems by analysing, a –priori, the question we asked and then, a posteriori, video recordings of the debates. This article first aims to facilitate the designing of a debate ; as it is essential to pay a special attention to some particular aspects of it (whereas this is not obvious at the begining) : identifying clearly the notions and the question that are the basis of the debate, preparing the phasis of the debate…Moreover, it has to be noticed that the teacher’s position is very different in this case, that the organisation of the course has to be changed, and then we tried to detail the problems we had to face, and the solutions we tried to find.
