Résumé

In 2002, Settoon and Mossholder proposed the conceptualization of 2 types of work related helping behaviours: individualoriented interpersonal citizenship behaviours, which are aimed at directly assisting a colleague in the form of emotional support (e.g., listening to a colleague’s worries and reassuring him) and task-oriented ones, aimed at helping a colleague through a work-related task (e.g., helping a colleague finish a report). This conceptualization allows the development of a finer and more relevant understanding of their influence on the optimal functioning of workers and organizations. Since there is no validated measurement scale in French to capture these behaviours, a process of back translation of the initial measurement scale (Vallerand, 1989) and two studies carried out among Francophone workers (N = 124; N = 295) were conducted to remedy the situation. The exploratory (Study 1) and confirmatory (Study 2) analyzes performed on the translated measurement scale demonstrate its sound factor solution and the excellent internal consistency of its items. The two types of interpersonal citizenship behaviours measured by this scale are strongly and distinctly related to one another, as well as to other measures of helping behaviour. In addition, the relations between these two types of citizenship behaviours, their antecedents and their consequences respect those described in the literature. The content, criterion and construct validity of this French version of the Settoon and Mossholder (2002) are therefore demonstrated. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2019 APA, all rights reserved)
