Résumé
This article proposes and validates a scale for learning phases, which contribute to the dynamic character of performance. Until now, no direct measure of learning phases has been used in the few studies dealing with performance. The current research allowed us to overcome this limitation. First, the scale measuring the three components inherent to learning phases (Concentration, Familiarity and Skills) was developed and tested in an exploratory way among 493 students as part of Study 1. Next, its factorial structure, its discriminant and criterion validity were tested within a second sample of 236 students (Study 2). In a further step, Study 3 confirmed the scale’s psychometric property among a sample composed of 323 workers. In short, our research led to the development of a scale of learning phases, in which each of the three component dimensions is measured on a continuum, from the transition phase to the maintenance phase. The results also demonstrated that the three dimensions of the phases are related to performance. Ultimately, this scale will allow more precise study of the nature of the links between performance and its predictors. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
